When you decided to commit to drug treatment, did you also decided how you wanted to be treated? If you haven’t made that decision yet, read on.

Drug addiction goes further than skin deep, it sinks all the way into your emotions and to your soul. Drug addiction is a disease and requires specialized treatment. Like cancer, radiation or chemo doesn’t fix all cancers, one type of therapy doesn’t fix all drug addictions. Each drug fixation effects each individual in a different fashion and having a drug rehab center that understands this and uses the top-of-the-line proven methods and individualized treatment plans to assist you on your road to recovery is the key.

You want to be treated with respect, and to heal in peace and tranquility and a little luxury wouldn’t hurt either. A place where you can collect yourself again and rejuvenate yourself body and soul. Something similar to a spa or fine resort on the coast and sunshine.

This place exists in the rolling hills of Malibu, California just minutes outside of Los Angeles, pick up the phone and call make this dream your reality drug rehab.

Treatment programs can only be successful if they target both the physical and psychological roots of addiction. As obvious as that sounds, the unfortunate truth is that many drug treatment programs only provide one-dimensional care. In fact, some of the most “exclusive” drug treatment centers in Los Angeles fail to adequately serve the emotional needs of their clients. As should go without saying, you can’t afford to trust your health to one of these institutions.

Successful drug treatment programs change lives. Failed drug treatment programs doom patients to dependency and self-destruction. You already know what’s at stake in the fight against drug addiction; now it’s time to learn how the right drug treatment facility can help to solve the problem. The day you enroll in a holistic drug treatment program will be the day you start healing from the inside-out, in a way that will help you remember why you ever believed tomorrow to be a thing worth waking up for. Don’t wait any longer to finally take the first step towards a more hopeful future.

Drug treatment information is easy to find on the World Wide Web. Unfortunately, you can’t trust much of what you read. Indeed, most online drug treatment literature is produced by and for private drug treatment facilities, all of which have a vested interest in promoting their own products. Under those circumstances, it should perhaps go without saying that you should never take any online claim at face value.

The good news is that there’s at least one reliable indicator of a drug treatment center’s true value: the success rate of its clients. The best drug treatment facilities are those which produce the most meaningful recovery for their residents. As you explore your drug treatment options, then, it’s vital that you focus on results. No, you can’t trust everything you read on the Internet. You can, however, believe in healing when you see it for yourself. All that remains, now, is for you to do the necessary research before you enroll in a private drug treatment program.

Maintaining a comprehensive bio-behavioral understanding of addiction also speaks to what needs to be provided in addiction treatment centers.

Again, we must be careful not to pit biology against behavior.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse’s recently published Principles of Effective Drug Addiction Treatment provides a detailed discussion of how we must treat all aspects of the individual, not just the biological component or the behavioral component.

As with other brain diseases such as schizophrenia and depression, the data show that the best drug addiction treatment programs approaches attend to the entire individual, combining the use of medications, behavioral therapies, and attention to necessary social services, rehabilitation and luxury residential addiction treatment facilities in Malibu, CA. * These might include such services as family therapy to enable the patient to return to successful family life, mental health services, education and vocational training, and housing services.

That does not mean, of course, that all individuals need all components of drug treatment and all rehabilitation services. Another principle of effective addiction treatment is that the array of services included in an individual’s treatment plan must be matched to his or her particular set of needs. Moreover, since those needs will surely change over the course of recovery, the array of services provided will need to be continually reassessed and adjusted.

The ultimate goal of all drug rehab and alcohol rehab is to enable the patient to achieve lasting abstinence, but the immediate goals are to reduce drug abuse, improve the patient’s ability to function, and minimize the medical and social complications of drug abuse. Alcohol and drug rehabilitation is done at various levels of intensity. There are several types of alcohol and drug abuse treatment programs. Short-term methods last less than 6 months and include luxury residential therapy, medication therapy, and drug-free outpatient therapy. Longer term treatment may include, for example, methadone maintenance outpatient treatment for opiate addicts and residential therapeutic community treatment. Outpatient drug-free treatment does not include medications and encompasses a wide variety of programs for patients who visit a clinic at regular intervals. Most of the drug and alcohol treatment programs involve individual or group counseling. Patients entering these alcohol and drug treatment programs are abusers of drugs other than opiates or are opiate abusers for whom maintenance therapy is not recommended, such as those who have stable, well-integrated lives and only brief histories of drug dependence. Short-term residential drug and alcohol treatment programs, often referred to as chemical dependency units, are often based on the “Minnesota Model” of treatment for alcoholism and drug abuse treatment. These programs involve a 3- to 6-week inpatient drug and alcohol treatment phase followed by extended outpatient therapy or participation in 12-step self-help groups, such as Narcotics Anonymous or Cocaine Anonymous. Chemical dependency programs for drug abuse arose in the private sector in the mid-1980s with insured alcohol/cocaine abusers as their primary patients.

If you’re loved one is dying from substance abuse, STOP all “rescue missions!” Family members often try to protect or to ’save’ the addict from the results of their behavior by making excuses to others about their abuse problem and by getting them out of drug-related jams. It is important to stop all such rescue attempts immediately, so that the addict will fully experience the harmful effects of his or her use and thereby become more motivated to stop and enter a drug treatment center. Do not pay their bills, do not bail them out of jail, do not pay their rent etc. Sometimes family members feel sorry for the addicted individual or tend to avoid the drug abuse; let them come and go as they please. This comes across to the substance abuser as a reward—after all, all the addict wants is to be left alone. Be careful not to reward by paying his bills, bailing him out of jail, letting him stay for free or letting him stay period etc. This kind of reward creates an out of exchange with the addict and increases criminal behavior. Tough love is the best way to get your loved one into drug treatment.

Addicts suffering from depression can’t expect to get better without competent depression treatment programs. If you’re going to get sober, in other words, you’re going to have to start from the inside-out.

The good news is that many exclusive drug treatment facilities pay lip service to the importance of depression treatment. The bad news is that they don’t all live up to their promises. The addiction treatment facility that’s right for you is the one that uses dual diagnosis techniques to assess your substance dependency in conjunction with your mental health, and designs an effective depression treatment program to meet your unique individual needs. You already know how devastating clinical depression is. Now, for your own sake, it’s time to start learning just how meaningful recovery can be.

The best drug addiction treatment program is the one that helps patients get better in body as well as in mind. Addiction, after all, is a jointly physical and psychological disease, and drug addiction treatment must promote both physical and psychological healing. There are no partial victories in drug addiction treatment programs. If you’re going to get sober, in other words, you’re going to have to get all-the-way sober.

Some “exclusive” drug addiction treatment facilities make the mistake of emphasizing one dimension of the healing process while ignoring the other. That’s a recipe for failure. In choosing a drug addiction treatment program, it’s vital that you find one that can meet all of your unique individual needs. Given the stakes in the drug addiction treatment process, you’d be a fool to settle for anything less than that.

A crisis intervention can only be successful if it’s conducted in an atmosphere of unfailing love and support. Remember, the addict you care about is an emotionally fragile individual. If he’s going to be convinced to seek help, it’s going to be because he hears the truth in firm but empathetic tones. A crisis intervention isn’t the right forum for reproach or recrimination. All that matters is healing. Any other outcome is simply unacceptable.

The good news is that you don’t have to face the challenge alone. On the contrary, the addiction intervention services offered by exclusive California rehabs can make a world of difference. The only catch is that you have to take the first step. Even the most capable intervention specialist in Los Angeles can’t help a client who refuses to be helped. For your own sake, for the sake of the addict you care about, don’t wait any longer to finally make the right choice. Crisis interventions save lives. You simply can’t afford to learn that lesson the hard way.

One of the primary drug addictions luxury residential drug rehabilitation centers deal with is cocaine addiction. Cocaine abuse, drug abuse, and addiction continues to be a problem that plagues our nation, but that can be dealt with at a drug rehabilitation center. For instance, from 1965 to 1967, only 0.1 percent of youths had ever used cocaine, but rates rose throughout the 1970s and 1980s, reaching 2.2 percent in 1987. After a brief decline, lifetime prevalence rates peaked at 2.7 percent in 2002.

However, we now know more about where and how cocaine acts in the brain, including how the drug produces its pleasurable effects and why it is so addictive. Through the use of sophisticated technology, scientists can actually see the dynamic changes that occur in the brain as an individual takes the drug. They can observe the different brain changes that occur as a person experiences the “rush,” the “high,” and, finally, the craving of cocaine. They can also identify parts of the brain that become active when a cocaine addict sees or hears environmental stimuli that trigger the craving for cocaine. Because these types of studies pinpoint specific brain regions, they are critical to identifying targets for developing medications to treat cocaine addiction.

One of NIDA’s most important goals is to translate what scientists learn from research, in order to help the public better understand drug abuse and addiction, and to develop more effective strategies for their prevention, treatment, drug detox and drug rehabilitation. We hope that this compilation of scientific information on cocaine will help to inform readers about the harmful effects of cocaine abuse, and that it will assist in prevention and treatment efforts.
